Sen. Lisa Murkorwski (R-AK), who was running for reelection, tonight conceded the Alaska Republican Primary to her Tea Party-backed challenger Joe Miller. After polls closed last Tuesday, Murkowski trailed by about 1,700 votes. As state officials began to release absentee vote counts today, the gap narrowed only slightly -- to about 1,100 votes. "I don't see a scenario where the primary will turn out in my favor," Murkowski said.
